MADLSA Determines the Options Available to Employers and Employees within Sectors Suspended Due to Corona

The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA) stressed the importance of cooperation in this period to reduce social and economic damages for the benefit of workers and employers, taking into account business continuity and recruitment in the long run.

In a statement, MADLSA called on the two parties to follow the following temporary instructions:

First: Employers continue to pay basic wages and other allowances, such as food and housing, according to contracts in sectors, activities, and services whose businesses have not stopped due to the precautionary measures to combat the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Second: All sectors, activities, and services that have ceased operating due to the precautionary measures to combat the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) the employer, in agreement with the worker, may grant annual or unpaid vacation, reduce work hours, or agree on reducing the wages temporarily.

The ministry explained that the hotline number 40280660 was allocated to report any violations related to the labor sector, and the worker can submit any labor complaint through the labor complaints service via text messages, which are available 24 hours in several languages, while it is decided upon immediately, by sending a text message to 92727, enter 5 and add the personal number, or the visa number and send the message.
